2010 SMA Doctoral Consortium

The 2010 SMA Doctoral Consortium will be held from November 2 to November 4, at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, beginning with a welcoming reception at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 2, and concluding Thursday afternoon.  Under the leadership of co-chairs Tom Baker and Mathew Joseph, the 2010 SMA Doctoral Consortium promises to be one of the best ever. The Consortium offers a unique learning and networking opportunity that assists future marketing academicians understand what it takes to be successful in our profession.

Not only do SMA Doctoral Consortium Fellows participate in professional development and career planning sessions, they also interact with top marketing scholars in a friendly one-on-one environment. The program is focused on promoting professional development and excellence in all facets of an academic career: research, teaching, and service. Leading universities across the U.S. and abroad send students to the consortium, and graduates of the program come back year after year to offer insight and keen advice.

In keeping with SMA tradition, we know that every SMA Doctoral Fellow will enjoy the hospitality and warmth that typify the Society. Students in any stage of a doctoral program will benefit from this experience. However, those students who have completed at least one full year of doctoral study comprise the majority of participants. SMA also operates a highly active Placement Service that may be especially helpful for students nearing the completion of their degree.

Students must be nominated by their departmental doctoral program coordinator or by another member of their faculty. More than one student may be nominated from the same doctoral program. For each student nominated, the sponsoring university pays $150, which includes all Consortium activities and meals, one-year membership to the Society, and registration for the Annual Conference.  Completed nomination forms should be received by Mathew Joseph no later than September 1, 2010.  Nomination forms are available Here.

A handy QuickFacts sheet about the Consortium is also available.
